Dan Bynum

"Dan Bynum could be what you might consider a classical modernist, reflecting a deep desire to study the human race and our surroundings.  Formally trained in the history and practice of art, his main inspiration comes from the history of art and from somewhere more personal, and entirely more unexpected.  He strongly believes art can reveal humanity to itself.  Bynum also believes Art should reflect humanity, now more than ever.  His childhood memoirs reflect the technique in creating original artwork.  Bynum works on a surface over and over, each time leaving faint traces of the past, like a journal.  His technique of erasing and reworking, building ups layers of images, reflect the experiences of life.  The stages of growth become memorable. Bynum’s goal is to give definition to the feeling and form to his perception." - Brett Levine, UAB Visual Arts Gallery
