Over the years, Hubbman has gathered stories and observations which he has incorporated into his paintings. His artistic passion is to create meticulous works on paper in watercolor and graphite. He sets up scenarios mixing unlike objects to communicate the way we communicate in our contemporary culture, typically putting total opposites next to each other to establish a different way of seeing.
Jim Hubbman is based out of St. Louis where he completed a fine arts degree at Maryville University. He received his M.A. in theology and philosophy from Benedictine Monastery School in St. Meinrad, Indiana and currently teaches art and theology at St. Mary's High School in St. Louis. He has spent several years as a commercial illustrator and graphic artist along with raising a family.
