About Cynthia Tollefsrud
Knoxville-based Cynthia Tollefsrud grew up with Disney movies and the annual televised replay of The Wizard of Oz, which was never to be missed. The influence of those Technicolor films as well as her interest in the Flemish Masters has led to the profusion of color that is always present in her paintings.
She begins each painting with a detailed sketch. The painting progresses through a few layers of paint with the use of a glaze technique to produce the deep colors. The ideas for her paintings come from the product of a very active imagination combined with her childlike perceptions on serious situations. Her artwork is in national and international private collections.
