About Andy Todd

Andy Todd has painted his whole life and has continued various art projects during the last 20 years while working as a pediatric nurse both in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the pre- and post-surgical unit of Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. In addition to his art, Todd is also a published author.  He resides in East Nashville and creates work out of his home.

For the last few years, Todd has worked on a Lost Mattress Project, taking Polaroid pictures of mattresses that flew off vehicles to land on the side of the highway, or were discarded in alleys. In 2007, he began manipulating Polaroids by exposing the image during the development process and using collage elements to enhance the colors in the picture. The images are then enlarged to various sizes, from 17 inches to 54 inches, at which time they become strikingly dramatic, especially in color and composition.
